Private
- enlisted rank, no rank indication on uniform. Other titles are given for this
initial rank depending on branch. For example; Gunner if Artillery, Driver if Corps
of Transport, Sapper if Engineers, Trooper if Armoured Corps and so on. Bombardier
and Lance Bombardier ranks apply to the Artillery.
The Warrant Officer has the
address of Sargeant Major. Warrant Officer Second Class or WO2 is Company Sargeant
Major, while Warrant Officer First Class is Regimental Sargeant Major. These ranks
are shown on the officer's wrist.
The highest rank currently, in
the New Zealand Army is that of Major General, a staff officer, based at the HQ in
Wellington. The Army can be, theoretically fielded as a Brigade sized unit where all
forces, including the Territorial Force (TF) elements are fielded. This unit is
commanded by a Brigadier.
NCO ranks are shown on the
shoulder, while CO ranks are shown on slides which placed on the shoulders. This is
the purpose of epilates. New rank slides for the field are of the unique New Zealand
DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material) and the rank denoted by black emblems for tactical
reasons. |
